TWIICE is a modular and customizable exoskeleton for walking assistance that allows paraplegics to regain independence in their daily activities. The device was designed to meet a variety of pathologies, symptoms, morphologies, and expectations. The technology is being developed at the Laboratoire de Systèmes Robotiques at EPFL.

Tacit Motion’s kinetic sensors provide a new medium for body language communication, which doesn’t transcribe with print or video. Recordings create a digital impression that may be copyrighted and licensed. Kinetic tracking and training is constraint-free; whenever, wherever.

We save lives though colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. CRC is the second most deadly cancer.

You don’t feel colorectal cancer starting, and when you do, it’s too late. Diagnosed early, you have a 90% chance to survive. Your chances drop to 10% when diagnosed late.

Our solution is a home screening device that is accurate, immediate, easy-to-use and inexpensive, requiring no lab interpretation. Innovation is in using an optical instead of a chemical test which requires lab interpretation.

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that tends to accumulate in buildings. It is the second cause of death by lung cancer worldwide. A new legal framework drastically reduces the level of radon allowed in all European countries: millions of buildings will be above the limit. Today’s radon measurements are inefficient and time consuming. To overcome this problem we propose a network of detectors based on CERN technology which are efficient, SMART connected and affordable.

Edema is a powerful metric in regards to the strength of the heart. If the edema goes unnoticed, a hospitalization is unavoidable. We can reduce the amount of unnecessary hospitalizations saving both the hospital and patient, time and money.

Skypull is an Altitude Wind Energy system, which consists of an autonomous flying device (drone) connected through a tether to a ground-based generator. The drone transforms the wind power available between 200 and 600 m above ground into traction on the tether. The tether is unrolled from a drum connected to a generator that produces electricity. The drone has a proprietary airframe and a high-efficiency wing foil (patent). It is totally autonomous and has all the necessary safety redundancies.

Like most man-made disasters, this was caused by incubating risks- it could have been averted. RiskTalk takes an innovative, simple, bottom-up approach to risk reporting. We’ve created an intuitive platform to crowdsource risks. We empower employees to flag risks, issues and anomalies- that are then tracked through action, mitigation and resolution.

Precision vine works with wine producers to provide and integrate remote sensing data into both winemaking and vineyard management. Using drone based platforms and an international network of operators for multi and hyperspectral imaging we offer a vineyard specific data processing service.

Novamet develops a unique and a cloud-based platform for expert system controller to monitor and to optimize melting process in aluminium recycling industries. This is aimed to reduce cycle time, oxidation of metal, energy consumption and CO2 emissions for a melting cycle by a 5 – 15 %. For a small-medium size furnace (~ 35 000 tpa production) that saves ~€0.4 Million and reduces the CO2 emissions by nearly 480 tonnes a year.

Nextome technology has over 4 years of research in order to achieve high accuracy location of the user’s smartphone. The system catches the signal of bluetooth beacons spread inside the environment and, thanks to proprietary artificial intelligence algorithms, it calculates the position of the user with an accuracy of about 1.5 meters. The system is patented with international PCT (ID: WO2015/049660), EU, USA and Singapore.

NeedsList is a comprehensive civic engagement platform efficiently connecting refugee aid communities with those who want to help. Ours "needs registry model” for the refugee crisis bridges a critical gap in humanitarian aid. Groups in the field can list needs for goods, services, or donations. Responders can immediately meet needs by donating funds or purchasing directly from local suppliers to fill "virtual containers". NeedsList acts as a marketplace, earning commissions on transactions.
